The Story Of Success

Originally formed in 1960 in Dallas, the team moved to Kansas City in 1963 and was renamed the Kansas City Chiefs. The ‘Chiefs’ in the name is partly in honor of the Mayor of Kansas – H Roe Bartle who was nicknamed the Chief and had a great role in persuading Lamar Hunt to move to his city.

For around the next ten years, the Kansas City Chiefs were the most successful team in the AFL.
